What Does a Water Distiller Not Remove?
A water distiller produces exceptionally pure water by imitating the natural purification process of the Earth. Available in compact countertop units or large automatic systems, water distillers can clarify virtually all contaminants through a process of boiling and condensation.
Distillation – How it Works
A typical water distiller consists of a boiling chamber where the water enters, heats up and is vaporized; a cooling system, which condenses and cools the steam to liquid form; and a storage tank megahome water distiller. These systems can be installed as point-of-use (POU) systems at the kitchen faucet or in larger industrial-grade units with reservoirs that can hold 12 gallons of distilled water.

The distillation process is not a quick one, and it can take upwards of four hours to produce a single gallon of distilled water. This means that distillers are not energy-efficient, and may be expensive to operate over time.
Can a water distiller remove chemicals?
In the process of distilling water, some gases (including chlorine) and volatile organic compounds may be re-condensed into the steam. Most steam distillers contain carbon post filters that adsorb these contaminants.
Is Distilled Water Safe to Drink?
Many people assume that distilled water is bad for your health because it removes minerals that are essential to our overall wellness. However, mineral levels in water vary from region to region and a high level of sodium or calcium may make water corrosive to household appliances.
