When I was a kid, my momma always told me that barn cats near me were in trouble Good mousing cats. Now as an adult I know that is not necessarily true, in fact, sometimes I come across barn cats just wandering around an open field or wooded area and I have no idea why they are there. They don’t seem to be in any trouble but I do find them fascinating. So, what does this mean for us as cat owners?
I love the idea that animals can cause us to think differently. Even though I am an animal lover at heart, I have always been curious about what it would be like if barn cats were living around me. Would they stare at me like me, or would they run away and hide away? Maybe they would follow me into the house and watch me cook or clean up. Or maybe they would scamper up behind my door and hide for no reason at all.
If you have barn cats near you then you may want to consider adopting one yourself. Some will even do a good job of taking care of you if you don’t want to take on the responsibility yourself. Just be sure that you watch them and protect your belongings as they are in their territory. You don’t want to have some kind of wild cat or even some big dog in your home that you have never seen before.
